Who are We ?

     When Vidal Zavala came to San Diego in 1987 from Salinas CA. He met Gregory L Amstutz; who became a lifetime friend and mentor in so many aspects of his life. Gregory owned Greg L. Amstutz Roofing Inc. at that time and asked Vidal to come and help his crew for a roofing project of three days. Greg was impressed with Vidal’s work ethic that offered Vidal to stay and work for the company full time. Growing up with a General Contractor as his father, Vidal was used to a construction life style and roofing became natural and relatively easy for him to learn and thrive in this new job. 

     In 1989 a new material and new roofing installation style came to The United States from Europe called “Torch Down”. Vidal attended one of the training presentations in Los Angeles. Out of close to a thousand attendees he was the first and brave volunteer to try the new method as a demonstration  since the installation involves controlling gas and fire. After the training and getting certified Vidal became the first person to install the first Torch Down Roofing System in California and perhaps in the entire United States. The firts Torch Down Roof installation was at a Hotel 8 in Point Loma San Diego California. 

     In 1992 Gregory decided to close his company to dedicate the rest of his life and all his fortune to helping the poor and Casas Hogar in Tijuana Baja California, a life time passion of his. As a gesture of gratitude Gregory gave Vidal Zavala his twenty seven years of clientele, history, knowledge and recommendations for him to start his own company and to become independent. In short, for legal reasons Gregory L. Amstutz Roofing Inc. became Zavala Roofing LLC. Today Zavala Roofing LLC carries on the legacy of quality work principals and in more than thirty years in the business has never received a customer complaint. Vidal Zavala never advertised his business before, his customers continue to refer him to friends and family for all this years. 

     Working along with his crew members Vidal understands physical hard work because he lived it himself as he grew his company every day. Working together when its too hot and getting too thirsty, too cold, too windy and carrying heavy loads up and down the ladders even when its too slippery gave him the wisdom to treat his crew members as friends and family and not just like a work or business transaction.

     After thinking of expanding the company for so many years, Vidal decided to take a leap of faith and take his business to the next level and transform Zavala Roofing LLC from a family own small business to one of the biggest and most reputable Roofing Companies in California. At the same time creating opportunities for so many talented and responsible people that are eager to be part of this new chapter in Zavala Roofing LLC. To start Vidal decided to open a new extension in Malibu California and eventually in every major cities throughout California.    

      The secret of success for Vidal Zavala for more than thirty years it is, to always treat his customers and crew members as he would like to to be treated coexisting in a lifetime, professional relationship. As a proof of his strategy of success, today Zavala Roofing LLC still receives phone calls from customers of twenty and more years of great relationships asking to build roofs and take care of their family members and friends as well. 

     Vidal Zavala is grateful to God for having a successful company that provides a great life style for his family and many others that work hard building roofs right the first time.
